MMA was first organized in by a group of Montessori teachers and administrators interested in creating a regional Montessori network. MMA's board of Directors is a volunteer group of administrators and teachers from member schools who meet throughout the school year to plan MMA events and manage the organization. MMA hosts an annual Head of School Networking meeting each winter, which the Heads of all member schools are invited to attend. If you are interested in becoming more involved with the board contact a board member for information. Meeting dates are posted in advance on this website in the "Events" section.

Skowhegan Montessori School
is looking for a full time teacher for a multi-age Primary classroom (ages 3-6). Must be organized and nurturing. A certificate of Montessori Education is desirable. Competitive pay. Hours are
7:30 to 3:30.

Also looking for an Art Teacher to work with children ages 3-6. Teacher will work with small groups of children. Responsible for planning art projects. Familiar with Montessori Method but will train ideal, motivated candidate that loves working with children. Other responsibilities include helping other teachers in our after-school program and classroom activities. Competitive pay. Hours are 20-25 per week. Hours may increase with ideal candidate.

Primary Assistant Teacher (ages 3-6), 2016-17
Assistant Teacher for a multi-age Primary classroom (ages 3-6). In addition to classroom support, the assistant teacher will be responsible for lunch and recess duty. Other responsibilities include helping to maintain a clean, orderly and attractive classroom. The successful candidate will be a warm, flexible, resourceful teacher who appreciates children, can assist them in self-directed learning, and will foster an environment of cooperation and community, based on the Montessori philosophy.
Qualifications:
Bachelorís Degree; experience and/or training in early childhood education; knowledge of Montessori education is highly desirable.
Terms of Employment
Hours are 8:00 AM TO 3:30 PM (may vary slightly); Monday to Friday; $11-12/hour depending on qualifications; benefits include health care, pension plan with a 5% match; education benefits; warm, supportive work environment.

Elementary Assistant Teacher (part-time), 2016-17
Assistant Teacher to support its Lower and Upper Elementary classrooms (grades 1-5). In addition to classroom support, the teacher will assist with lunch and recess duty and help to maintain a clean, orderly environment. The successful candidate will be a warm, flexible, resourceful teacher who appreciates children, can assist them in selfdirected learning, and will foster an environment of cooperation and community, based on the Montessori philosophy.
Qualifications:
Bachelorís Degree; minimum of 1-3 years experience working with children; knowledge of Montessori education is highly desirable.
Terms of Employment
Hours are 11:30 AM TO 2:30 PM, Monday to Friday; $11-13/hour depending on qualifications. May be combined with KMS Aftercare position, 2:30 to 5:30.

Aftercare Teacher (part-time), 2016-17
KMS seeking an energetic, creative and resourceful teacher to provide a safe and stimulating environment for children ages 3-10 in our aftercare program. Activities will include plenty of outdoor play, as well as indoor activities such as arts and crafts, games, sewing and cooking. The ideal candidate will be able to lead activities in music, yoga, or other enrichment activities. S/he will foster an environment of cooperation and community, based on the Montessori philosophy.
Qualifications and Qualities:
Bachelorís Degree preferred; experience working with children essential; knowledge of Montessori education is highly desirable. The successful candidate will be flexible, nurturing, joyful, reliable, professional, organized.
Terms of Employment
Hours are 2:30 to 5:30 PM, Monday to Friday; wages begin at $11 and are dependent on qualifications and experience.
